Art for Dummies
September 27, 2018 at 5:30 pm
$30.00
Ah yes, ~art~
Do you feel a bit lost and wish you had the right terminology for it? Want to learn how to appreciate it better?
Please join us for a fabulous evening soiree where we will experience the private art collection at Gadens, enjoy drinks and canapés, as well as hear from two speakers who brilliantly balance the worlds of business and art. We will learn more about the Brisbane art scene and how understanding the arts can actually be valuable for your professional development.
You’ll find it doesn’t have to be too complicated!
Joining us are our guest speakers:
Lara Cresser, Senior Associate, Gadens
Lara is an experienced commercial and corporate lawyer with a focus on litigation, intellectual property and online content. Her expertise includes advising multi-national companies, government organisations, universities, inventors, large social media companies and a broad cross-section of public and private corporations across a range of sectors both within Australia and overseas. Lara is also active in supporting the arts throughout Queensland and Australia, working with galleries and arts organisations including QAGOMA and Queensland Theatre.
Brett Lethbridge, owner Lethbridge Gallery
Brett Lethbridge is the owner of Lethbridge Gallery, Cartoonist at The Courier Mail and a pioneer in the Brisbane Arts Scene. Despite his education in law, Brett found himself drawn to the arts scene as an international practicing artist with a somewhat rare passion for the success of other artists in our City. Brett has founded and been involved in some of Brisbane’s finest art awards including Lethrbridge 10000, Clayton Utz Award and the Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular. More recently Brett has successfully established what has been referred to among artists as “ The Brisbane Archibald Prize” which is set to release in 2019 known as the “Brisbane Portrait Prize”.
